The North County Humane Society is a division of Action for Animals' Rights (AFAR), founded in 1977. We are a "no-kill" cat adoption center/shelter. Our mission is to reduce pet overpopulation and to promote responsible pet ownership through spay/neuter and trap, neuter and release programs; provide shelter, care and socialization opportunities for domestic cats awaiting permanent homes; and advocate for the welfare and humane treatment of all animals through education efforts in our communities. If you are looking to support a great organization, we could really use your help.

Kitten March Madness
The stork has finally arrived at NCHS with 5 beautiful kittens, four boys and one girl! Cassie and her four brothers, Chester, Connor, Charile and Christopher are anxious to become part of your family. Now's the time to come in, pick out your favorite, and put down a $25.00 adoption pending fee, which will be deducted from your $100.00 adoption charge. These kittens were born on 2/2/13 and can go home when they weigh in at 2 pounds, around 8 weeks of age. Your adoption fee includes: cost for their spay or neuter, vaccines at 8 weeks & 12 weeks, tested for FIV/FELV, treated for ear mites, fleas and wormed. With each March Madness kitty adoption, each adopter will receive a carrier and choice of a handmade kitten blanket, so you and your kitty can snuggle!

Valentine and Cupid
North County Humane Society celebrated Valentine's Day with the arrival of two, new-born kittens! Only three days old, these adorable babies we found in a dump site in San Miguel. Happy to report, these bottle-babies are comfortable in a foster home and doing great. What did our staff name these adorable kittens? The little gray male is "Cupid" and his fat, little sister is "Valentine" of course! These kittens will be up for adoption when they are six weeks old and can leave the shelter at eight weeks of age, to began their lives being your forever Valentine.

Don't forget to GO to animal services to check if she was trapped and turned over to them. Don't rely on pictures on the county site, since it is only the volunteers that take pictures and sometimes it is behind. Also put an ad on
