A desperate NYC waitress/actress locks eyes with the perfect man just as she passes out from a botched suicide attempt. What do you do when you meet the man of your dreams when you’re in a coma?

Description

Morgan Miller came to Manhattan to be a Broadway star, but 15 years later, she’s still a waitress, dumped by her latest loser boyfriend, and her tiny studio about to go co-op. She is sent over the edge when her doctor tells her she has to go gluten and dairy free in order to lose those extra 15 pounds. Loveless, homeless and faced with a life without pasta, she decides to end it, but not before a large pizza, a mani-pedi and a blow-dry. She intends to look fabulous for her final performance.

Morgan can’t even get her suicide right, and she ends up in a coma. She’s able to hear and see everything and everyone, including Mario, the gorgeous guy who saved her life and can’t seem to stay away from her hospital bed. The only one she can communicate with is a sassy spirit guide who tries to help her embrace life. Ultimately, Morgan must decide if she wants to live again—for herself, for love, and of course, for pasta!

Jill Garson began writing and performing songs when she was a teenager, and earned a recording contract with Polydor Records in France. Switching to screenwriting, Jill wrote and directed a short film, GIMME THE FINGER, which was distributed by Apollo Films. Jill is the co-writer of CANDY STRIPERS, which was distributed by Screen Gems. She was a finalist in the Sundance Spring Writing Workshop, a semifinalist Chesterfield Screenwriting Competition, a semifinalist in the Writer’s Network Screenplay and Fiction Competition, and a semifinalist in the Heart of Austin Screenwriting Competition. In addition, she was a judge in the Carl Sautter Memorial Scriptwriting Competition for three consecutive years, and a judge for the CableAce Awards for two years.

“Tuesdays With Morrie” meets ”Chicken Soup for the Soul”, as a young rising corporate star juggles her career, her sanity and her Italian immigrant family amidst a series of tragedies.

Description

At age 30, Debbie is in the fast lane as an executive in the top-paying world of high tech. Her life seemed perfect until one day when her New York Italian family starts to crumble. First, her mother, Vita, gets a brain tumor. Then her younger sister mysteriously kills herself. Three months later her father is diagnosed with bone cancer, and then her aunt gets breast cancer.

Debbie desperately tries to keep her career going while managing her family’s needs and her own grief. Along the way, Debbie realizes there are more important things in life than a lofty corporate title, executive pay and stock options. She eventually decides to leave it all behind and live her life with more meaning by writing a book to help others overcome similar challenges.

Author’s Note

While death and dying are probably the most challenging situations to face in life, they also offer us the opportunity to learn the most important lessons in life. This true story could be anyone’s story, but the difference is in the main character’s choice to find the silver lining in every cloud.
